Clearing Space for the
Next Era of Operation

Don’s collection is part of our family’s history. We’re now clearing space in the shop and looking for the right buyer or trade partner to take the machinery as a lot.

The goal is to put that space back to work: modernize the shop for precision machining and fabrication, pursue independent contract work, and build the manufacturing side of Skunk River Valley Farms.

A used Milltronics CNC mill is our priority trade interest. We’re open to discussing a whole-lot cash offer or a trade proposal that helps move the shop into its next phase.

Donald L. Landes · 1932–2022

A working life. With a lasting impression.

The Legacy of a local legend. Tooling saved alongside the machines. Family photographs of one generation learning beside another. Don’s collection brings those pieces of a working life together.

Before this was a collection, it was Don’s craft. He worked in tool and die at Sheaffer Pen Company, then taught precision machining at Southeastern Community College for 27 years. He retired in 1995, the same year he received the college’s Instruction Emeritus Award.

At home, that same interest filled the family shop. Beginning in the 1970s, Don brought home machinery, tooling, and industrial auction finds. Over the decades, the collection became part of the landscape of family life: the machines, the shop, and the generations growing up around them.

Today, that history gives this collection its character. The farm remains veteran-owned, with Don’s son Russell, a U.S. Navy veteran, carrying the work forward. The collection’s next chapter will help put the shop back to work for the family that inherited it.

The work has always been a family affair.

A father, a son,
and a place to call home.

Russell and Brian pause to wave from the old farmhouse. Brian remembers being about four when this photograph was taken, helping his dad with the roofing.

It is a small moment in a much longer family story. Don’s shop, Russell’s machining career, and Brian’s plans for the farm all belong to that same thread: learning by working alongside one another, then carrying the work forward.

That connection is what we want to preserve as Skunk River Valley Farms enters its next era of operation.

Whole-lot buyout & equipment trade

One collection.
A new beginning.

We’re looking for a machinery dealer, industrial buyer, or trade partner to review the collection and propose a practical path forward.
